American Express Statement
For the millions of financially underserved in the U.S., a tax refund means relief. It could mean paying off bills or paying down revolving debt, saving for a big event, or putting it away as a cushion for when paychecks are irregular or the household is operating paycheck to paycheck.
According to the IRS, most tax refunds are funded within 21 days of filing. However, this year new provisions included in the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act (PATH Act) impact certain tax return’s refund timing. For tax returns that contain the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and/or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), the refunds will not be funded earlier than February 15, 2017.
This year, American Express Serve is once again working with Jackson Hewitt, Intuit ProConnect and TaxAct, and for the first time also with TaxSlayer, all to help Americans receive their tax refunds up to two days earlier than other disbursement options such as paper check.
Jackson Hewitt, TaxAct, Intuit ProConnect and TaxSlayer customers can load their IRS tax refund onto an American Express Serve Prepaid Debit Card. This full-service, reloadable prepaid account has money management tools and can be used virtually anywhere American Express is accepted. There are no hidden fees and no minimum balance is required. In addition, enjoy the benefits and peace of mind from being in the AMEX network such as fraud protection, 24/7 customer service and purchase protection.
